Privacy Policy for ScrollStand

Welcome to ScrollStand (“the App”), a teleprompter app developed by Paul Berry (“I,” “me,” or “my”), based in the United States. ScrollStand lets you write, import, organize, and read scripts on your device. This Privacy Policy explains how I handle your information when you use the App. By using ScrollStand, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information Collection

I do not collect, store, or transmit your scripts or personal information to me. Scripts, folders, shows, settings, and photos you choose stay on your device.

The App does use a few device features:

  • Local storage. Scripts and settings are saved on your device so the App works offline. I cannot see them.
  • Camera. You can photograph a page or scan a code. The picture is read on your device to turn it into text or a script. I do not receive the photo, and it is not uploaded to me.
  • Internet. The first time you open the App, it may download the reading fonts from Google. If you choose “import from a link,” the App requests the web page you typed. I do not receive that page.
  • Files and clipboard. If you import a file or paste text, that text is read on your device and saved with your scripts. It is not sent to me.
  • Keep screen on. While a script is scrolling, the App can keep the screen awake. This does not collect information.
  • Subscription status. If you buy the optional annual subscription, Google Play or the Apple App Store tells the App whether that plan is active. I do not receive your card number.

There is no account and no advertising in ScrollStand.

2. How I Use Your Information

I do not use your scripts. The App uses the features above only to:

  • Save and show your scripts on your device.
  • Read a photo or a code on your device when you ask it to.
  • Download fonts, and open a link only when you ask it to.
  • Keep the screen on while you are reading.
  • Turn subscription features on or off based on what the store reports.

3. Sharing Your Information

I do not sell your scripts or personal information. I do not have your scripts.

A link you choose to import is requested from that website. That site receives a normal request from your device, including your IP address, under its own policy.

If you download fonts, Google receives that font request under Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy

If you subscribe, the store processes the payment and can show me the order, country, price, and whether the plan is active or canceled. I use that only to provide the subscription and to answer a billing question.

I may disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect my rights, safety, or property. Because I do not hold your scripts, I have nothing of yours to hand over unless you send it to me yourself, for example in a support email.

4. Third-Party Services

ScrollStand does not use advertising or usage-analytics services.

5. Subscriptions

ScrollStand is free to install. I offer, or plan to offer, an optional annual subscription for extra features, such as more than three scripts.

  • Google Play or the Apple App Store charges you and renews the plan. I do not receive your card number, bank details, or billing address.
  • The store tells the App whether the subscription is active, so locked features can turn on. That status stays with your store account. I do not ask you to create a ScrollStand account.
  • The store’s developer console can show me the order, country, price, and whether the plan is active, renewed, or canceled.
  • Cancel or manage the plan in your Google Play or Apple subscription settings. Deleting the App does not cancel the subscription.
  • Until the subscription is turned on in the store, the App does not charge you.

6. Data Security

Your scripts remain on your device. I do not store them on a server. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its storage, removes them from the device. Keep your device locked. Support emails you send me are stored in my email account and are used only to answer you. Subscription records are kept by the store, under that store’s security measures.

7. Children’s Privacy

ScrollStand is not directed to children under 13, and it is not designed for children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, contact me at support@scrollstand.com and I will delete it.

8. Your Choices

  • Do not grant the camera permission if you do not want to photograph a page or scan a code. The rest of the App still works.
  • Do not use “import from a link” if you do not want the App to contact a website.
  • Delete a script in the App, or uninstall the App, to remove it from the device.
  • You can refuse optional permissions in your device settings.
  • You can refuse the subscription. The free App remains usable within its free limits. Cancel a plan you already bought in the store’s subscription settings.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you may have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale of personal information. I do not sell personal information. I do not hold your scripts. Subscription records are held by Google or Apple. To ask about a support email you sent me, or about a subscription record I can see in the developer console, contact support@scrollstand.com. I will respond within the time the law requires.

10. EU and UK Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability.

I do not hold your scripts. The personal data I may hold is a support email you send me, and subscription records the store shows me (order, country, price, and whether the plan is active or canceled). The store, not I, holds your payment details.

The reason for using those subscription records is to perform the contract for the subscription you chose, and to meet tax and accounting duties. Support emails are used to answer you, which is a legitimate interest, or because you asked me to.

You may contact support@scrollstand.com to use these rights. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. I will respond within the time the law requires.

11. Other Regional Privacy Laws

If you live somewhere else with a privacy law, you may have similar rights over information you have sent me or over subscription records I can see. Contact support@scrollstand.com.

12. Other Permissions and Future Changes

The App may use ordinary device features required to run, such as reading a file you pick or keeping the screen on. Those features do not send your scripts to me. If I add an account, ads, or analytics, I will update this policy and the store listing before that change reaches you.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this policy. The date at the top will change. The current version is at https://scrollstand.com/privacy.
